WDFW’s Ramrodded Boat-Fishing Ban Will Fail to Recover Winter-Run Steelhead and Here’s Why…
Years ago the Potholes area, like most of central Washington, was a dry area where
only sage brush, rattle snakes and a few dry farmers existed. A plan was put in
place to bring water in to provide systems to irrigate the somewhat barren
land. Grand Coulee Dam was built and water was pumped up to form Banks Lake,
then channeled out for irrigation to many areas including Moses Lake and O’Sullivan,
now known as Potholes Reservoir. Agriculture has flourished beyond belief
growing fruits, vegetables, livestock and the wildlife population exploded.
